Adam Silvera reminds us that there’s no life without death and no love without loss in this devastating yet uplifting story about two people whose lives change over the course of one unforgettable day.

On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They’re going to die today.

Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There’s an app for that. It’s called the Last Friend, and through it, Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure—to live a lifetime in a single day.

This book was absolutely beautiful, very tender, never pandering. The connection between Mateo and Rufus - and all the other people in their orbit - unfolds over a very short amount of time, and yet it is deeply felt. There are no easy ways out of this one, but it's absolutely worth the journey. Made me want to call everyone I love and tell them. One that will stick with me for a long time, and a wonderful piece of queer literature for teens and adults alike. Fantastic.

This book smelled like tears and self-sabotage.

And it's safe to assume that indeed, it was.

And American Pie is now my favorite song because of this book. Favorite line is when Mateo says “I wasted all those yesterdays and am completely out of tomorrows.”

This book is the first Adam Silvera novel that I've read. And what in the deathcast's name is this? This is so beautiful and worth every time in the world.

heartbreaking but really heartwarming. the relationship between mateo and rufus is beautiful. it makes me believe that no matter how abstract and confusing the concept of love is, it is wonderful and worth it. great book :)!

The amount of times I caught myself crying while reading this book is insane. The word choice is perfect, and the ability Silvera has to make the characters seem realistic is too much for me to handle. The book title already gives you the ending, so you think you’re prepared for it...but you are sadly mistaken. The way Rufus and Mateo and all the other characters are intertwined makes it 200x better. I’m so glad to have read this book. I recommend this book but if you’re sensitive you have been warned.

I didn't really cry while reading this book as everyone keeps telling. i am very sensitive but......don't know. I cried at two points. first, when Mateo was thinking about his father who was in coma and second, when Mateo died in kitchen and Rufus found his burnt body. Well! It's a great novel. Everyone must read it.

Read the book in one day. This is sorta one of those books that makes you reevaluate everything makes you learn to never take granted of the things you love. I love this book had me sending messages to my loved ones and to ppl that I’ve done wrong. I really recommend this book for a more open mind. :)

I won't say it's the best book I have read but it's certainly amazing and worth a read. This book has taught me so much about life, about how we take things for granted and how we waste precious time. It changed my perspective and I loved it.

I love this book. It didn't really becocme one of my favorites but it made me learn how a day can change your life if you actually live it. I just got bored from the start but I got through it at part 3, the ending got me crying. It got me out of book slump though. The story is beautiful, the characters, and their relationship too. I guess I just get too bored at every beginning of a story. I'll give this a 4/5. I really loved the ending.
